The homeowner of this Southeast Portland property wanted a home that would meet her long-term needs after recently relocating to be closer to family. She envisioned an outdoor space she could enjoy year-round for gardening and family gatherings. The solution? A custom exterior remodel designed exactly to her specifications.

What Were the Goals of This Remodel?

The main goal for this project was to design a covered structure that allowed the homeowner to enjoy the outdoors throughout all four seasons. The remodel needed to protect the space from the elements while incorporating elegant design features. Inspired by European garden aesthetics, we included Roman-style pillars to add a timeless, classic look to the space.

How Did We Address The Challenges?

Integrating the new patio cover with the existing garage roofline posed one of the key challenges for this Southeast Portland remodel. We carefully blended the rooflines to ensure a seamless connection between the new and existing structures.

To ensure structural stability while also preserving the aesthetic design of the space, we incorporated steel beams into the design of the patio cover.

Design Enhancements and Solutions

As the project progressed, the homeowner chose to modify the original to include a traditional chimney stack. This adjustment provided both structural support for the roof and a more visually appealing feature for the overall design.
