project description
This 1916 bungalow in the Southeast neighborhood of Woodstock was a charming home for our clients at first but as their family grew so did their need for space. So, we kept the charm like the generous trim throughout, exposed rafter tails, and rich oak flooring but extended it into an addition that made use of the substantial lot size.
architectural design
We removed the existing back porch that was once the only route to get to the unfinished basement and laundry below. We then excavated for a new basement that formed the foundation for the 1st floor addition. An additional bedroom and bathroom were created while allowing the once cramped kitchen to now flow into a proper dining room.
design phases
Most importantly our clients can now do laundry without going outside! This is especially critical since they learned they were expecting twins during construction. Lamont Bros. devised a plan to complete all the important work to make this house a home for the expecting family while phasing out the work to finish the new bathroom and basement in the future.
