Chef's Kitchen Remodel and Addition in West Linn, Oregon

The owners of this Neo-Victorian farmhouse-style home in West Linn moved in four years ago, and they knew the kitchen would eventually need work. Both of them love to cook, but the original kitchen made it difficult. Counter space was too limited to prep a meal, storage was tight, and the cramped layout left anyone who stopped by standing right in the middle of the cooking. The two-story home has a steep gabled roof and a covered porch across the full width of the front, so we matched the addition to the existing rooflines, siding, and trim, and the new section blends in extremely well with the original house.

Project Goals

The homeowners came to Lamont Bros. Design & Construction to build the chef's kitchen they had wanted since moving in. The project added 100 square feet, which meant a new foundation, framing, and roof structure. The finished kitchen is modern transitional in style, with clean lines softened by warmer wood and stone.

The redesigned space includes:

A six-burner Wolf range as the kitchens centerpiece
A custom island built with locally crafted wood cabinets.
Dark grey shaker cabinets paired with Thunder White granite countertops.
Kentwood engineered hardwood floors throughout the kitchen.
A built-in drink station off to the side for guests.
New lighting and plumbing fixtures.

This finished West Linn kitchen has been transformed to a modern transitional style. The result is a kitchen that handles serious cooking and still gives guests room to gather while a meal comes together.
