Full Kitchen Redesign For Expecting Parents
When they purchased their home in West Linn’s Bolton neighborhood, homeowners knew their kitchen would eventually need a remodel. After finding out they would be welcoming a new baby, the family decided it was now or never. They came to Lamont Bros. with a specific vision, budget, and timeline for their project.

Project Goals
This Portland kitchen remodel addressed a handful of issues. First, the homeowners wanted to have the project completed and their new kitchen ready to use before the baby arrived. Second, they wanted to improve the design and aesthetic of their old kitchen to better meet the needs of their growing family. Third, they wanted to make updates that would add equity value to the home within the next 5 years.
Our design team worked with the family to address the specific challenges they were facing. Overall, the entire kitchen was functionally and visually outdated. It quickly became clear that a full redesign would be best.
The original layout was poorly arranged, offered little countertop space, and had a main walkway through one of the work zones in the kitchen. In addition, the cabinets were decades old and showed signs of deterioration.

Unique Features
To solve the issue of limited space, our team expanded the kitchen into the adjacent dining nook, which the homeowners rarely used. Although it did require replacing the old windows with shorter ones to accommodate for the cabinet height, this decision provided a larger canvas on which to create the ideal kitchen for these clients’ needs. We then went ahead with a full redesign of the kitchen to rework the layout and walkway challenges.
The new kitchen design features custom white oak cabinetry, luxury Bosch brand appliances, and an island with plenty of space for seating. For countertops, the homeowners chose a gold-veined white quartz slab by PentalQuartz. Other unique features include a Ruvati sink with noise dampening and layered lighting to allow more control over the ambiance.
Our team completed construction on this project in 7 weeks, giving the homeowners enough time to get to know their new kitchen before the baby arrived. They now have a completely updated kitchen with an aesthetic they love, a layout that works with their lifestyle, and increased equity value to their home.
