Lamont Bros. worked closely with the owners of this early 1900's house to re-create the charm of a turn of the century kitchen with modern convenience and utility. The tin ceiling and open shelving and solid color floor add some unique features.
Before we demolished the original kitchen, we didn't know if we could save the original old-growth Fir flooring. Afterwards we could see that it would be able to be salvaged, but there would be numerous blemishes noticeable. The owner was fine with some of the blemishes, but not excited about seeing some of the repairs that would need to be done. We determined that if we used a high quality boat deck paint to hide some of the blemishes it would allow us to keep the original flooring and add a unique color and texture that really stands out in this kitchen.
